Boylston: Parney E. (Wertz) Young, 95, passed away in Sterling Healthcare on Friday, September 2, 2016. She leaves a daughter, Alethia Stolberg-Leith of Worcester; a son Roger A Young and Cheryl Bassett of Boylston; four grandsons-Roger A. Young, Jr. and his wife Kim, David A. Young and his wife Krissie, Stephen Stolberg Jr., and Andrew P. Stolberg ; three granddaughters- Karey Ann Young, Ann Stolberg-Reiss and her husband Benjamin; and Nicole Stolberg; great-grandchildren- Brady, Autumn, Sarah, Katie, Jacob, Katie, Stevie, Remona, Kadijah, and Keshawn; and several great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John A. Young, a son - John A. Young, Jr.; and a brother Jacob Wagner.
Parney was born in New Oxford, PA, daughter of the late William and Nellie (Lovell) Wertz. She moved to MA in 1935, graduated from North High School in 1939, and was a devoted housewife and mother for many years. After her children were grown, she worked for various companies including W.T. Grant Co, Paul Revere Insurance Co., International Jewelers, Law Firm Fletcher, Tilton and Whipple, and retired from the Boston Globe Agency office in Hudson at the age of 80. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Boylston, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Boylston. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
