Evans – Mrs. Ramona Baston Smith, 87, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 31, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 7:15 PM on Friday evening, September 2, 2016 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Roger Bennett officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM to the time of the service. Burial will be the following day, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith was a Baptist and, over the years, had been a member of many congregations. A lifelong resident of Columbia County, she was a direct descendant of the Rev. Daniel Marshall, who brought the Baptist faith to Columbia County in 1772. She attended the Overcomers Outreach Center, and had retired from the Kendall Company and JC Penney.
She is survived by her daughter; Joyce White (Dan), her grandchildren; Kelly Sorenson (Scott) of Chicago, ILL., Denise White and Kevin White, both of Dothan, Alabama, and her sisters; Corrie Thomas and Myrtle Tyler. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister; John M. Baston and Jean B. Morris.
