Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church W. Bridgewater at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm. Donations in Alda’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.
Obituary
Mrs. Zipeto died Friday morning at the Braemoor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a period of failing health. She was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Angelo and Erina (Particelli) Tomei and remained a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Zipeto was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1935.
For many years Mrs. Zipeto was the manager of the coffee shop at the Goddard Hospital in Stoughton retiring in 1973. Previously she worked in the meat department at the Eastside Fernandes Supermarket and had worked part time in the Brockton School Department cafeteria system. She had also worked along side her husband in his cobbler shop John’s Shoe Repair in Campello.
Mrs. Zipeto enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, extended stays in Florida and especially trips to Foxwoods.
When her children were young she was a Boy Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader. She had been a longtime communicant of St. Margaret Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.
She is survived by a daughter Rena G. Shea of Marshfield and a son John F. Zipeto of Andover. Two grandchildren Matthew D. Zipeto of Bainbridge Island, WA and Diana E. Zipeto of No. Andover and four great grandchildren. One sister of Eva Ghizzoni of Dedham and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Melba Meninno and Albert and Alfred Tomei.
