Mr. Robert John Owczarek, a resident of Medford since 1969 and beloved husband of the late Karen L. (Lagman) Owczarek, passed away at the Glen Ridge Nursing Center in Medford on Monday morning, August 29, 2016. He was 78 years old.
Born in Hamtramck, Michigan, on April 30, 1938, he was the beloved son of the late Chester and Mildred (Cyanovich) Owczarek. Mr. Owczarek was a graduate of Wayne State and Tufts University. He retired as Professor Emeritus from Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill. He also worked as Professor at the Boston Conservatory, Tufts University, Dean College, and Colby Sawyer College. Robert also had a vibrant career acting in the theater and films. He loved traveling, especially to Europe, and had a passion for the arts - particularly drama, music, and literature. He also loved to drive, and loved to cook. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving children; Betsey K. Owczarek of St. Louis, Missouri and David M. Owczarek of Medford, Daughter-in-law; Kara L. Owczarek of Arlington, sister; Helen D. Owczarek of North Miami Beach, Florida and two grandchildren; Katherine and Alexander.
His Memorial Service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 11 AM, with a reception to follow at Salvatore’s Restaurant in Medford Square. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016, from 4 to 7 PM.
