Obituary

DAVID LAWRENCE CONDON, JR.

BARNSTABLE VILLAGE: David L. Condon, Jr, 83, died peacefully and comfortably on Monday, August 29, 2016 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Natick on October 16, 1932 the son of the late David L. Condon, Sr. and Eva May (Barney) Condon.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 15 years of Mary Elizabeth ( O’Connell) Condon of Barnstable Village. Beloved father of Theodore Condon of Sandwich; Douglas Condon of Natick; James Condon and his wife Sarah of Milford; Carole Condon Potter and her husband Alan of Middleton, NH and Jessica Arrone of Norfolk. Also survived by his loving niece Penne Dupuis and her husband Scott of Centerville, nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Brother of the late Helen Condon Gile, Elaine “Sissy” Condon Tibbett, and Jean Condon Alcock.
He resided in Natick for over 60 years and for the last 23 years in Barnstable Village. He was a graduate of Natick High School with the Class of 1950. David served his country proudly and with honor during the Korean Conflict from 1951 – 1955 as an Electrician Mate with the United States Navy on the USS Tumult, a mine sweeper and on the USS Nerius,a submarine tender. He attended Northeastern University nights for ten years to receive his BS in Electrical Engineering all the while raising his family and a full time day position with the Boston Edison Company. He retired after 37 years of dedicated service as an Electrical Engineer.
David was a past-president of the Natick Little League Baseball Program and also was involved in many other youth community programs and church activities while residing in Natick.
He was an ardent Red Sox and Patriots fan. One of David’s most sincere disappointments is the fact that his grandson plays as a goalie for the Montreal Canadians – not for but against David’s beloved Boston Bruins, a rivalry he holds close to his heart and soul.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, 3055 Main Street (Route 6A), Barnstable 02630.
Interment will be held in the Memorial Garden at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
His family will receive family and friends at the Parish Hall following all services.
