William F. "Willie" Iadevaia, 77, of North Scituate and Harrisville, passed away peacefully Monday, August 29, 2016, after a year long battle with lung cancer. Willie was born in Providence, RI to Frank and Millie Iadevaia.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Susan, his brother Robert and his wife, Joyce Iadevaia, as well as his daughter, Temma, his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to list.
He had an outrageous sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. His great loves were his wife, fishing, traveling to little known places, wildlife, and haggling at the early morning market with all his buddies. Owner of Frank's Fruit East, until his retirement in 2002, Willie was the fourth generation of marketing fruit and produce. He has spent the last several years working and schmoozing at Walkers Roadside Stand in Little Compton. He loved meeting new people, accepting of all ethnicities, accents, ages and social statuses and was non-judgmental and supportive of those struggling with personal issues. Kids and young adults knew him as a "cool dude", still going to rock concerts well into his 70's.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no wake or funeral. A cremation will take place with the ashes to be be dispersed at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the church his grandfather helped found and support in 1893. (The little church has an interesting history on its website if you care to take the time).
