She leaves her sisters, Pj Pelletier and her husband, Ralph, of Chicopee and Patti O’Connell of Florence and their children; her brother, Thomas “Greg” Hogan; her cousin, Patrick Gaughan, and his family; her former husband, William “Billy” Shenas; his mother, Calliope “Cal” Shenas; his brother, Stephen, and his family; Billy’s cousin, Linda Sotirion, and her children; and Jill’s extended family of friends, Dr. Charles and Randy Hapcook, as well as their children, and Joe and Belinda Pioggia and their family. In her early days of employment, Jill waited tables. She began a career in international travel with American Airlines and later with Collette Tours. Her love of primates led her to Africa to see the mountain gorillas. Realizing the need to return to school, she attended Holyoke Community College and transferred to Smith College in Northampton, where she graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Anthropology with Honors. She continued working with primates at the Center for Great Apes in Florida. Jill was an avid skier and loved all outdoor adventures. Her time spent at the Cape Cod shore along with Groton Long Point with her nieces and nephews were one of many highlights of their lives with “Auntie Jilly Bean”. She hosted many poolside summer events from early May until late October. She married Billy Shenas in 1986 and enjoyed his families’ social circle of friends. She and her father-in-law, Jim Shenas, were always the brightest stars in the room. Meanwhile, Cal Shenas ensured fabulous food and the comfort of her guests. Jill carried the Hogan gene forward following her father’s love of fun. Forever, the life of the party. A lover of music, with a spirit so generous and true, sharing came naturally. For that the lives of her nephews and nieces, Michael, Sean, Maggie, Shelbi, Rory, Sean, Jennifer, Lesley, Georgie, Katrina and Stephanie were enriched beyond measure. Her theme song, “My Baby Takes the Morning Train.” With affection, she was employed by many households in Longmeadow, caring for their children, dogs, cats, yards and homes. When all is said and done, she was a caregiver at heart affecting the lives of many. In fact, she was more of a caregiver than she knew.
