Obituary

William M. “Bill” Cary, 76, of Whitman died on August 28th at home, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. He was the husband of Sandra (Wilbur) Cary for 52 years.

He was born in Brockton, son of the late Orin Duncan and Mary B. (Nolan) Cary and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1957.

Bill worked as an Engineering Clerk for the Foxboro Company for 35 years and then at the Brockton Hospital in the transport department and eventually became a volunteer there.

He has been a Whitman resident for many years and was involved in Whitman Youth Soccer from its conception, volunteered as a Little League coach multiple times and served as chairman of the Whitman Recreation Commission.

Bill loved spending time with his family, reading books, mastering crossword puzzles, supporting all New England sports teams and watching the “ Little League World Series “.

In addition to his wife Sandra, his is survived by his three sons and one daughter Matthew Cary of Brockton, Douglas Cary of Quincy, Neil Cary of Rockland and Pamela Toczko of Attleboro and his sister Patricia Boelsma of ME. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Sarah Cary, Ryan Cary, Erin Toczko, Andrew Toczko, Kevin Toczko, Abigail Cary, Ella Rose Cary and Bryson Cary.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Friday September 9th at 11:00AM in the United Methodist Church, 503 South Ave, Whitman. All other services have been omitted by the family’s request.
