Eugenia Andrianopoulos, 93, of Worcester died Sunday, August 28th at home. Her husband of 59 years, John K. Andrianopoulos died in 2005. She leaves two sons, Charles Andrianopoulos and his wife, Peggy of Paxton and Andrew Andrianopoulos and his wife, Lisa of Worcester; three daughters, Christina Andrianopoulos of Worcester, Alexandria Kyranos and her husband, Yianni of Milton and Mary Andrianopoulos and her husband, Rod Grupen of South Deerfield; a brother, George Kossivas and his wife, Eleni of Athens, Greece; a sister, Pagona Demos of Denver, CO; 9 grandchildren, Christopher, Jenna, David, Thomas, Emanuelle, Yianni, Niko, Drew, and Chrissy; three great grandchildren, Grace, Sarah, and Vincenzo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She also leaves her godchildren, Anahid and Asdhig Bogosian-Tekessian. She was predeceased by a sister, Angeliki, and a brother, Andreas, of Greece.
Eugenia was born in Meligala/Solaki Greece, the daughter of Alexander Kossivas and Christina Lakopoulos. She worked at Astra Pharmaceutical and Harrington-Richardsons in Worcester. When she first arrived from Greece, she loved designing and tailoring clothes for friends and clients. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a former member of its Ladies Philoptochos Society. St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral was her foundation, where she raised her children within the embrace of her faith and the Hellenic community. She offered her services in many ways to the church and took pride in making the weekly Holy Bread (Andethero) for St. Spyridon’s Cathedral. One of Eugenia’s favorite pastimes was cooking for her family, friends and neighbors. Her other hobbies included tending to her spectacular garden of flowers and vegetables. She was well known for her generosity and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Her funeral is Thursday, September 1st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, August 31st from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
