Russell Buchan Harper, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, August 29, 2016, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, in Ambrose, Georgia, with Brother Ronald Jordan officiating.
Mr. Harper was born August 2, 1924, in Wray, Georgia, to the late Alonzo & Eunice Buchan Harper. He lived in the community all of his life and worked with Rayonier Timber Company and Deep South, as a plant manager. Mr. Harper loved to be outside farming and working in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed sharing the fruits of his work. Mr. Harper was a member of the Jehovah Witness Fitzgerald Congregation.
He is survived by a son: Kim Harper of Fitzgerald; three grandchildren: Wesley Harper, Jared Harper and Kaitlin Harper; three great-grandchildren: Chandler Harper, Bella Harper and Tyler Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Allene English Harper; his second wife: Wynelle McCook Harper; a son: Gary Harper; six brothers and six sisters.
