Elba G. (Petruccelli) Uto age 94 of Brockton died Saturday evening August 27, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family and under the care of hospice. She was the devoted wife of the late Matthew Uto for 63 years. She was born and raised in Brockton; a daughter of the late Michael and Nora (Delucchi) Petruccelli and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
A 1941 graduate of Brockton High School, Elba worked for 25 years as a teacher’s aide in the Brockton School system with most of her days spent at the B.B. Russell and Raymond schools. She loved the kids and they loved her.
In her younger days, Elba and her husband Matty enjoyed dancing, travelling, playing cards, golfing and swapping stories about growing up in Brockton. While wintering in Melbourne, Florida Matty and Elba volunteered each holiday to help prepare food for others.
A clothes horse right to the end, she could shop every day. A perfect day included going out for breakfast, trying on clothes at Macy’s, grocery shopping, and then cooking a large Italian meal.
Elba was one of the happiest people. Put her in a social setting surrounded by family and friends and she was in her glory.
Elba is survived by her three sons Robert Uto of Brockton, Don Uto and his wife Lauri of Brockton and Anthony Uto of Mauldin, S. Carolina. She leaves four grandchildren Andrea James of Liberty, SC and her daughter Alexis; Jessica Uto of Easley, SC and her son Jacob; Danielle Lopez and her husband Dre of Brockton and their son Blake and Ryan Uto of Brockton. Elba was the sister of the late Pat Petruccelli.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday at 10am preceded with visitation 9-10. Please consider donations in Elba’s name to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P. O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
