TAUNTON – Herbert F. Lima, husband of 63 years to Madeline (Vieira) Lima, died at Morton Hospital on August 27, 2016.
He was 87.
Born, raised, and educated in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Cambra) Lima.
Mr. Lima served in the United States Army during the Korean War, during which he received the Bronze Star.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, Herbert was employed as a supervisor for Texas Instruments.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, he was an avid fisherman, member of the Stripers Club, of which he received numerous trophies, President of AARP, was a league bowler and league golfer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Pamela Broderick and her husband Matthew of Taunton; one son, Herbert Lima and his wife Andrea of Taunton; two grandsons, Ryan Olson and his fiancé Carly Bosh, and Nicholas Lima and his companion Alysa Casey; one great grandson, Bentley Lima; one brother, Alverine Lima of NV.
He was also the brother to the late Liduina Macedo.
His funeral will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Thursday, September 1st at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visitation will take place at the funeral home prior to his services from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
