85 died peacefully with her family at her side on August 27th 2016. Loretta loved sewing,quilting,baking,doll collecting and taking care of others. She spent numerous hours hand crafting clothes for dolls she donated to Kosair Children's Hospital. Loretta retired from Phillip Morris. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Bessie Wilkerson, sister Alta Searcy, and her beloved son Ronald Van Shipley. Loretta is survived by her son Gary Shipley (Donna), daughter, Donna Holme (Tommy), daughter-in-law Debbie Shipley, sisters; Adalane Matthews, Frankie Bishop, Shirley Pullen and Patsy Simmons, and cousin Billie Jean, 11 grandchildren Donnie, Doug, Jerry, Kelly, Mike, Sean, Louie, Christina, Matthew, Adam, and Angela, and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday August 29th at the Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown 9318 Taylorsville Rd. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday August 30th at the funeral home with burial to follow at Jeffersontown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
