George A. DeCosta, Sr., age 60, a lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Morton Hospital in Taunton, following a period of declining health.
He was the beloved husband of Dawn S. (Horton) DeCosta, whom he had shared the past 30 years of his life with
Born in Taunton, MA on July 12, 1956, he was a son of the late Manuel, Sr. and Alma (Broomhead) DeCosta.
George had formerly been employed as a manager at Taunton Tire and later when the company operated under the name of Sullivan Tire.
He loved spending time with family, especially with his grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, deer hunting, trapping and playing bingo.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children George DeCosta, Jr., Shaun DeCosta, Christopher DeCosta and his wife Michelle, Justin DeCosta, Sr. and his fiancé Corrine all of Taunton and the late Heather Andrade. He was the dear brother of Manuel “Manny” Decosta, Jr. of Taunton, Joanne DeCosta of Attleboro and Sharon Brown of Taunton. He was the cherished grandfather of Jayme, Christopher, Cassie, Joseph, Candy-Lynn, Justin, Jr., Anthony, Nicholas, Sr. and Tyler. He was the adoring great grandfather of Nicholas, Jr., and the son-in-law of Bette Rivard of Taunton and the late George Horton.
Services and burial are private and visiting hours have been omitted. Those wishing may remember George with a donation in his memory made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
