Louise M. Cortese, 72

Dateline: Taunton, MA

Louise M. (McCrann) Cortese, age 72, of Taunton, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the embracing love and care of her family on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the comfort of her home.

Born in Everett, MA on April 15, 1944, she was a loving daughter of the late Joseph and Rachel (Tintino) McCrann.

Louise grew up in Chelsea where she was educated and a graduate of Chelsea High School. She was also a graduate of Quincy Junior College, receiving a Business Degree in Land Commercial Real Estate.

Prior to retiring, Louise was the proud owner of Fletcher’s Bar & Grill in Braintree. She was also the former owner of the County Line in Quincy Point as well as a former realtor and owner of Cortese Realty in Quincy.

A resident of Taunton for the past 17 years, she made previously resided in Quincy for many years, Her favorite times by far were those spent amongst family and friends.

Louise’s talents included poetry, of which she was an award winning published poet. She also enjoyed painting and will always be remembered for her exceptional and scrumptious cooking skills.

An elegant woman with a big heart for helping others, Louise received much pleasure and joy by making periodic donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the MSCPCA and organizations to benefit veteran’s.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughters Rachelle M. Duffy and her husband John and Robin E. DiCienzo and her husband Nicola all of Taunton. She was the cherished grandmother of Sean Purcell and his fiancé Roger, Chelsea Duffy and her fiancé Terence, Antonio DiCienzo, Angelina DiCienzo, John Duffy, IV, Robert Duffy and the great grandmother of Terence Wrightinton. She was the dear sister of Joseph McCrann and his wife Margaret of Chelsea, and the loving aunt of Theresa, Annmarie and Joseph.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a celebration of Louise’s life, to be held on Saturday, September 10th from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the Taunton Memorial Funeral Home, 8 Crapo St. (Off Route 140, Tremont St.) Taunton. Burial will be private.
