Diane G. (Farrell) Hansen, an 8 year resident of Woburn and former 12 year resident of Chelsea and longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at her home in Woburn following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 66 years old.
Diane was born in Boston on November 8, 1949, a daughter of the late Bernadine (Auch) DeAngelo and Ronald Farrell. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Diane worked as a Secretary for the Boston School Department and retired following 26 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. Diane cherished the special times with her children and took great enjoyment being with her grandchildren.
Diane is the beloved wife of the late Paul F. Hansen. She is the devoted mother of Lisa Ann Hansen of Woburn, Michele Hansen of Stoneham, Anne Marie Houlihan and her husband John of Billerica and Paul "P.J." Hansen of Charlestown. She is the loving Grandma to Ashley Rose Miller, Shawn Paul O'Neil, Robert James O'Neil Jr., Nolan John Houlihan, Seamus John Houlihan, Eric Mazzio and her great-grandchildren Mairead, Lilija and Eliza. She is the beloved sister of Darleen Shaheen, David Farrell, Josephine DeAngelo, Susan DeAngelo, Vincent DeAngelo and the late Ronald Farrell, Dina DeAngelo and Joseph DeAngelo. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Diane's Funeral Service on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
