Obituary

Kevin M. Golden passed away at home on August 27, 2016. He was born on February 4, 1949 in Everett, MA and resided in Derry, NH from 1979 until his passing.

Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts in History at Saint Anselm College, and his Master’s Degree of Secondary Education at the University of New Hampshire.

Kevin was a United States History and American Government teacher at Salem High School from 1978-2009, then a substitute teacher for 5 years. He had a passion for history and loved inspiring learning in others. He loved teaching AP US History and Honors American Studies. He was the longtime moderator of the Model UN and the Constitutional Convention. Kevin spent many years as a class advisor, advising the Young Democrats. He also coached the girls JV soccer team at Salem High School for a couple of years.

Kevin was an avid reader and a loyal fan of New England sports teams. He enjoyed playing chess, dining out, coaching Derry Youth Soccer, spending time with his family and cruising the Caribbean.
Above all else, Kevin was a loving husband and a proud father. He is survived by his wife Marsha of 41 years, daughter, Jessica Golden-Harrington and her spouse Jeremy Harrington of Burlington, MA, a son Justin D. Golden and spouse Kimberly Golden of Salem, NH. He is also survived by two grandchildren, a brother, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, calling hours were held on Saturday September 3, 2016 from 1 – 3 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. At Kevin’s request, a brief memorial service followed at 3:00pm.
