TEWKSBURY: Ernest D. “Ed” Buckley, Jr., age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for over 70 years, passed away at home, with his family by his side, on Friday, August 26, 2016.

He was the beloved husband of Joyce A. (Wakefield) Buckley, who passed away in 1996.

Born in Boston on June 17, 1928, he was the son of the late Ernest D. Buckley and the late Helen A. (Sullivan) Buckley.

Mr. Buckley was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School in 1947.

Upon moving to Tewksbury, he attended the former St. Mary’s Church and was current communicant of St. Dorothy’s Parish in Wilmington.

Ed was a former member of the Fr. Francis Coppens Council Knight of Columbus # 4336 of Tewksbury.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 47 years as a truck delivery salesman by the Teamsters for the Continental Baking Company of Natick.

He enjoyed caring for the landscape of his yard, playing shuffle board, spending winter months in Florida, and was an avid New England sports fan.

Ed is survived by seven children, Edward R. Buckley and his wife Joan, Barry E. Buckley and his wife Maureen Murphy Buckley all of Tewksbury, John M. Buckley and his wife Ann Marie of Dracut, Cynthia A. Taft and her life partner Harold Bickford of Moultonborough, NH, Michael C. Buckley and his husband Marc C. Overton of Huntley, IL, Lynne M. Magri and her husband Steven of Hudson, NH, and Timothy P. Buckley and his companion Lynn Webster of Tewksbury; seven grandchildren, Kristin Buckley-Stavros, Kara (Buckley) Murray, Crystal and Holly Buckley, Wayne and Brittany Benson, and Jay Buckley; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Jocelyn, Jenna, McKenna, Landon, and Daniel Jr.; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Ed was the brother of the late Daniel Buckley, Grace Lucas, and Anna Elizabeth Norton.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Hs funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., Rte. 38, Wilmington. Kindly Omit Flowers.
