Obituary

Hugh L. Hanna, 83, of North Grafton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on the morning of Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the UMass Memorial University Hospital in Worcester, MA.

Hugh was born in Lawrence, MA on September 11, 1932 to Alexander and Mary Hanna. He graduated from the Boston School for the Deaf in 1950. He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Hanna, and son, Timothy Hanna, of North Grafton and daughter, Brenda M. Hanna Siewert. Hugh is predeceased by his loving and caring sisters, Theresa M. Bonneau, Patricia Powell and Rita Lafrenier and his brother, John. Hugh loved trains and antique automobiles and took every opportunity to see them up close. Hugh enjoyed a lifelong career as a Master Carpenter creating exhibits for trade shows around the world. Hugh loved spending time with his friends and family and had a wonderful gift of making everyone feel special.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Hugh’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 2 – 6 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 9 AM at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. Burial will follow at St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.

Our family especially thanks all the staff at the UMass Memorial University Hospital Ambulatory Clinic and Step Down Unit for making Hugh and his family feel loved and cared for during this time.
