KRESSY, Christopher Newcomb 79, of Newton Lower Falls, MA, and Campton, N.H., August 13, 2016. Chris was a dedicated artist and teacher committed to the success of his students, pursuing his studio practice and exhibiting throughout his life, leaving behind generations of practicing artists who recall his calm demeanor and poignant lessons on being an artist and living a life of creativity.
Born in NYC Christmas day 1936. Grew up in South Salem, N.Y. Received his BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design. Masters Degree from Yale School of Art and Architecture in 1963. He was a professor of painting at University of Massachusetts and New Hampshire Plymouth State University. Served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.
Beloved husband of Edith (Stewart) Kressy for 57 years. Devoted father of Matthew Kressy and his wife Kara of Wellesley and Anderson Kressy and his wife Michelle of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Grandfather of Sophia, Isabelle, and Christopher. Twin brother of Michael Kressy and his wife Jean of Ashburnham, and half-brother of the late Peter Bent Brigham and his late wife Ann.
A memoriam to be held at The (Eero Saarinen) Chapel on the MIT campus, 44 Mass Ave, Cambridge MA, Friday, Sept. 9 from 2-3pm. A reception to follow from 3-5pm.
