Richard Roy Fowler, Jr., 68, of Bridgewater, NH, passed away, Wednesday August 24, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a battle with cancer. He was born April 16, 1948 in Somerville, MA and was a son of the late Richard R. Sr. and Helen (Bunker) Fowler.
Mr. Fowler served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, after which; he was a longtime member and retiree of the Waltham Fire Dept. He retired to NH to be near his beloved Newfound Lake, where he enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and his hot rod cars. He was a longtime member of AA in the local area, where he dedicated much of his time helping others to sobriety.
Members of the family include his two daughters, Renee and Denise Fowler, his four grandchildren, Justin, Skyla, Maya and Braden, his fiancée, Pat Eastman, his sister Susan Fowler Flanagan and her husband, John.
After cremation, a visitation was held Thursday September 1, 2016 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH from 4 to 7 pm. A memorial service followed at 7:00pm in the funeral home. His cremated remains were buried with honors at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, Friday, September 2, 2016 at 12 pm.
