James P. DeBay
Retired Teamster for Local # 25

TEWKSBURY: James P. DeBay, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for more than 50 years, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

He was the beloved husband of Marlene T. (DeMarco) DeBay, with whom he celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on April 19, 2016.

Born in East Boston on February 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Philip R. DeBay and the late Mary (Abramovitch) DeBay.

James was raised in East Boston and attended East Boston schools.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 40 years as a truck driver by Teamsters Local # 25 for the Pennsylvania Trucking Company.

Mr. DeBay was an active member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In-Center, where he enjoyed attending socials and dances.

In addition, he was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge # 2070.

Jim enjoyed many activities including playing golf, shooting pool, wood working, and spending winter months in Florida.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, David J. DeBay and his wife Stephanie of Dunstable, Lawrence J. DeBay and his partner David McGowan of Parrish, FL, James P. DeBay, Jr. and his wife Maryann of Richmond, VT, and Richard M. DeBay and his wife Christine of Pelham, NH; eight grandchildren, Ariana (DeBay) Manganaro and her husband Joe, and Ian, Stephen, Zachary, Deven, Abigail, James III, & Will DeBay; also many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Jim was the brother of the late John and Clyde DeBay.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, Aug. 29, at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. At the request of the family, there are No Calling Hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, Tewksbury.
