Obituary

Albert Alexander Sumner, 87, of Eldorado died Thursday, August 25, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado with the Rev. Donnie Sloan and the Rev. Tommy Dorman officiating. Mr. Sumner will be laid to rest at Oakey Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 28, 2016, from 2:30 p.m. until the hour of the service at Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado.

Born November 16, 1928 in Turner County, Mr. Sumner was the son of the late Henry Leon Sumner and Alice Eliza Sandefur Sumner Golden. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dovie Iris Griner Sumner, who died in 2013; his step-father, Walter J. Golden; two brothers, William Sumner and W. L. Golden; five sisters, Laura Golden, Ruth Drawdy, Lena Rutland, Katie Golden and Ruby Harris; five step-brothers, James Golden, Eston Golden, Clayton Golden, Pleamon Golden and Wiley Golden; and two step-sisters, Nellie Eaton and Maggie Parr. He was a retired farmer and worked 15 years at Suburban Gas Company. He was a member and deacon of New Hope Holiness Baptist Church in Worth County.

Mr. Sumner is survived by one son, Wayne Sumner of Lenox; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Danny Crumley of Lenox and Jo Beth and Glenn Roberts of Macon; a sister-in-law, Juanita Golden; five grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and H. R. Crumley III, Michelle and Dean Peters, Tyler and Emily Sumner, April Luciano and Ashley Sutton; and five great-grandchildren, Arinda Beth Luciano, Sawyer Sutton, Mattie Leigh Crumley, Madelyn Horton and Callie Horton.
