Daniel Thomas Alves, age 80, of Fall River, passed away on August 23, 2016 at Sarah Brayton Nursing Center. He was the loving husband of Lorraine (Mello) Alves. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Mary (Mendes) Alves. Daniel was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid sports fan and loved fishing, playing baseball and pool with his friends. Daniel especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Prior to retirement he worked for many years as a Head Custodian for the Fall River School Dept.
Along with his wife he leaves behind his daughters Gail Denis (Daniel Cooney) of Dartmouth and Melissa Shea (Joseph Shea) of Fall River; 3 grandchildren Liam, Emily and Olivia; as well as his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Gilbert Alves and Judith Oliveira.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
