Laconia-----Mary Louise "Weezie" Blais, age 89, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 22, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Gilford and Laconia, she was born January 17, 1927. Growing up, she enjoyed her horses and life on the family farm. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1945 and was married in 1948. She and her husband Francis were active in local ski clubs and events.
Weezie worked as an operator at New England Telephone and Telegraph (later AT&T) for 37 years. After her retirement she could be found country line dancing, flower gardening, reading and shopping. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness to friends, neighbors and family.
Weezie is survived by family that will miss her very much, including two daughters; Charmein Fanning & husband Jack, of Gilmanton, and Katie Ewing & husband David, of Gilford; four grandchildren; Melissa (Jesseman) & Michael Rogers, Jesse & Corey Blais, Jonathan & Dana Ewing, and Mackenzie Ewing; step-grandchildren Michael & Irene Fanning and Amy Fanning; and four great-grandchildren: Evan, Alec and Abbie Rogers, and Annabelle Blais. Also surviving are her sister Delores Lemay of Rexburg, ID, beloved nephew and nieces Greg & Lauren Lemay of Gilford and Gay & David Beck of American Fork, Utah. In addition to her parents Ralph and Mary (Bagley) Ellsworth, she was predeceased by her husband Francis Blais, son Shaun Blais and grandson Jamie Jesseman.
There will be no calling hours.
There will be a brief graveside service at Union Cemetery in Laconia on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11am.
