Mr. Donald J. Remy, of Taunton, died Sunday, August 21 in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Virginia A. (Correia) Remy. He was born 73 years ago in Fall River, the son of Arthur J. Remy and the late Dorothy (O’Rourke) Remy. He was educated in Fall River and Westport, and had been a Taunton resident for over 30 years. Prior to his retirement, Donald was a self-employed auto mechanic, having operated Don’s Auto Repair on Cohannet Street in Taunton for over 10 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling to New Hampshire for the mountains and fairs, and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Parish in North Dighton.
In addition to his wife, of Taunton, and father, of Fall River, he leaves: 2 daughters: Dawn Keough and Trisha Vieira, both of Rhode Island; 2 stepsons: Joseph Machie and his wife, Larrel of Assonet, and Derek Machie of Fall River; 2 stepdaughters: Debra Correia and her husband, Edward of N.H., and Louise Cornell of E.Taunton; 2 brothers: Robert Remy and his wife, Donna of Milford, and Steven Remy and his wife, Sue of Assonet; 4 sisters: Carol Pacheco and her husband, Antone of Westport, Judith Botelho and her husband, John of Dartmouth, Cheryl Remy and Darlene Remy, both of Vt.; several grandchildren, a great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Donald was also the father of the late Donald J. “DJ” Remy, Jr., and brother of the late Thomas Remy and Joan White.
Visiting Hours will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, August 27 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. A Prayer Service will follow the Visiting Hours at 7:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
