Leon White, 79, of the West Berrien Community passed away Monday, August 22, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County with the Rev. Ken Potts and the Rev. Marv Williams officiating. Mr. White will be laid to rest at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County with the Rev. Junior Swain officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 24, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. White will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. White’s grandsons, Ryan White, Zach White, Mitchell White, Andrew White, Alex Dekle and Chase White, along with Randy Luke, will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 8, 1937 in Cedar Grove, Mr. White was the son of the late Elisha E. White and Rosie Hall White. He was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. He was the owner of Auto Battery and Electric in Tifton for 35 years and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Berrien County, where he also served as a deacon. He loved his family and church family and loved to work and fish.
Mr. White is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice Luke White of West Berrien; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny and Jo White of Tifton, Leslie White of West Berrien and Jerry and Deneen White of Omega; a special daughter-in-law, Pamela White of Enigma; a brother, Arnold White of Buffalo, New York; three sisters, Letha Selph of McRae, Mary Ellen Wojick of Tifton and Sandra Walker of Enigma; ten grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
