Pauline M. (Manoogian) Kachanian of Windham, New Hampshire died peacefully at Grace House on Sunday August 21, 2016. Pauline was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on Oct. 3, 1922. She was the daughter of late Mariam and Manoog Manoogian and sister of the late Hagop Manoogian. She graduated from Lawrence High School and worked at Columbo Yogurt in Andover, MA. Pauline taught Armenian School and sang in the choir starting at the age of 11. She met her husband on New Year’s Eve during a concert in Symphony Hall. They were married in the former Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church in Lawrence in 1944 and raised their family in Methuen, MA. Pauline worked alongside of her husband as a bookkeeper for their Merrimac Sales wholesale paper products business.
She also attended St. Gregory’s Armenian Apostolic Church in North Andover and when she and her husband spent their winters in Florida, attended St. Hagop Armenian Church in Pinellas Park.
Pauline was a committee member of the Daughters of the Knights of Vartan. Pauline also was a member of the Ladies Aide and Women’s Guild at the former Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, John J. Kachanian and her son Jack Kachanian. She is survived by her sons, Richard Kachanian and wife Gail (Reilly), Alan Kachanian and Garon Kachanian. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Kachanian, Michael Kachanian and wife Emily, Allyson (Kachanian) Yennaco and husband Jeff and Monica Sachs, her great grandchildren; Avan and Marah Ann Yennaco, her nephew, Roger Manoogian and wife Nancy.
Pauline loved her church, family and friends, enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaining and fashion. She was very expressive, compassionate and generous. Many thanks to the kind staff at Grace House in Windham for their support and genuine care.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home immediately following calling hours, beginning promptly at 12:00 Noon. Interment to follow at Bellevue Cemetery of Lawrence.
