COCHITUATE: Liliane M. (Rogers) Smith, 100, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 19, 2106 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Taunton on October 8, 1915 the daughter of the late Frank W. Rogers and Olivonne M. (St. Aubin) Rogers.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her two daughters: Catherine L. Slocum of Marlborough and Claudia A. Murphy of Framingham. Sister of Gertrude Cappacino and the late Frank W. Rogers, Dorothy Ryan, Evelyn Ricci, Mary CAtharwood and Robert Rogers. She is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Wife of the late Alfred Smith who died in January 2003. Mrs. Smith is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She spent her formative years in Jamaica Plain and graduated from West Roxbury High School. She has been a resident of Cochituate for nearly 70 years. She began her career in the accounting department at Raytheon in Boston and retired after 24 years of dedicated service as the Group Leader for Raytheon at the Bedford and Waltham locations.
Liliane has been a longtime communicant of Saint Zepherins Church in Cochituate. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting as well as reading all types of literature, especially poetry. When her daughters were young, she was involved in Girl Scouts with them.
At the request of Mrs. Smith, there will be no funeral home visitations. Family and friends are invited to go directly to Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland for her Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow in the Smith family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate.
