NEW BEDFORD - Mariano R. Moniz, 62, of 2086 N. Main St. Fall River, died on Wednesday, July 27th in St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford with his family by his side. He was the former husband of Delta (Menezes) Moniz. He was the father of Mario J. and Louis M. Moniz both of Fall River, Grace Paquette, Gina M. Almeida, and Cindy A. Moniz all of Fall River, and Suzy M. Moniz of Oklahoma. He was the brother of Jose Moniz, Elvira Moniz, Maria Pacheco, Maria Martins, and Maria Ferreira all of Fall River. He was the grandfather of 9 grandchildren and the uncle to several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Francisco Xavier Moniz.
Born in Silvalde Espinho, Portugal the son of the late Mariano P. and the late Conceicao (Pombeiro) Moniz. He had been a resident of Fall River since 1969. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Supervisor for Stanley-Bostich Co. He previously worked for Plymouth Rubber Co. He was a member of the Nucleo Sportinguista, New Bedford # 82, and a former member of the Academica Club in Fall River. He was also a parishioner of St. Michael's parish.
His funeral will take plase on Saturday, July 30th at 9:00 A.M. from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Michael Church, Essex St. Fall River. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Robeson St. Fall River.
