Lauren M. Shaughnessy, of Billerica formerly of Woburn passed away August 10, 2016 at the Mass General Hospital in Boston. She 62 years of age. Born in Winchester she was the daughter of Rose (Pergola) Giacchino of Woburn and the late Charles C. Giacchino.
Raised and educated in Woburn, Lauren was a graduate of St. Charles High School. She also was a graduate of Fitchburg State College where she received her degree in Nursing. Following college, she worked for several years as a registered nurse at the former Symmes Hospital in Arlington. Lauren was a devoted nurse and health care provider. In 2009 she was instrumental in creating the Visiting Nurse & Community Health Hospice Program of Arlington. and was currently serving as the Director of Hospice. Lauren also worked as a legal nurse consultant. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing and quilting. She also loved caring for her dogs and especially enjoyed the companionship of her dog Angel.
Lauren is lovingly survived by her sons, Patrick Shaughnessy Jr. of Derry, NH and Matthew Shaughnessy of North Carolina. She was the loving grandmother of Patrick Shaughnessy III, Courtney Alexander and Matthew Shaughnessy. Sister of Mary Ellen Fantasia and her husband Mike of Woburn, and Charles Giacchino Jr. of Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by a niece and nephew, several dear friends and many co-workers.
In keeping with Lauren's wishes funeral services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Lauren's memory to the Nursing Dept. c/o Fitchburg State University Foundation, Inc., 160 Pearl St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
