LAIDLEY, Frederick N. “Chick”, of Saugus, formerly of Winthrop, passed away on August 17, 2016. He was 76. He was the first born of 5 children to the late Frederick F. and Florence N. (Ciampa) Laidley. Beloved father of Tiffany R. Andrus of Wilmington and Dan Scott of E. Wakefield, NH and the late Robert Timothy Laidley. Loving grandfather of Benjamin, Nathan, and Emma Camille Andrus, Daniel and Shane Scott. Dear sister of Carol A. O’Brien of Revere, Dr. Bettina D. Laidley of NH, Steven J. Laidley of Winthrop, and the late Robert J. Laidley. Three of the many very special people in his later life were Mrs. Emma Rotondi, Mrs. Kitty Scott and Bill Moore. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will take place on Thurs, August 25, from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, from 9-11am. A Funeral Mass will follow in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop, at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery. Fred was raised in Winthrop, MA and attended St. Lazarus Elementary School in East Boston and Winthrop High School until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Japan. He had an insatiable interest in motorcycles. He loved racing them, the love for speed and adventure and he often shared his love with his grandchildren.
