Obituary

MILLIS: Raymond “Ray” Wilbur Senechal, Jr., 57, of Millis, Mass., passed away at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 17. He was the Reservation Manager at Farm Pond for the Town of Sherborn, swim coach for the West Suburban YMCA Masters, assistant swim coach for Dover Sherborn High School, and assistant swim coach for the Karishim Swim Club where he helped lead the team to win the NE JCC Championships two years in a row.

An avid camper, boater, fisherman, golfer and adventure seeker, Ray was born in Spartanburg, S.C., where he graduated from Spartanburg High School. He attended classes at the College of Charleston (S.C.). His coaching career spanned 35 years including Aquatic Director at the Suburban Athletic Club in Framingham and coaching positions in Spartanburg, Charleston and Greenville, S.C.

Ray was a loving father and is survived by two sons: Daniel Ian with spouse Courtney (Schuster) Senechal of Ashland, Mass., and Justin Raul Senechal with Robin Lanzoni of Southborough, Mass. He also is survived by his sisters Elaine “Lainie” Marie Senechal, poet laureate of Amesbury, Mass., Cheryl Senechal Ferrara of Marco Island, Fla., Donna Ray Senechal of Franklin, Tenn., and Laura Jean Senechal of Englewood, Tenn.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents Raymond Wilbur Senechal, Sr., and Marjorie Elaine (Cutler) Senechal of Amesbury, Mass.

Visiting hours will be held this evening from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 7 p.m. at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the USA Swimming Foundation, a philanthropic arm of USA Swimming.
