Colton, Jennifer Alice, “Jenny”, on August 19, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous three and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. Jenny was born in Boston in 1948 to the late Richard and Alice Colton. She was a 1966 graduate of Girls Latin School, and she earned a summa cum laude Bachelor of Science degree from the Boston College School of Nursing in 1970. For over thirty years, she was a clinical research nurse for the University of California at San Francisco, where she was involved in the early ground breaking AIDS research as well as numerous other studies. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting and photography all her life. Jenny is survived by eight siblings: Richard and Marie Colton of Montague, MA; Michael Colton and Clare Fisher of Melbourne, Australia; Timothy and Mazie Colton of Milton, MA; Kathleen Colton LaRocque of Duxbury, MA; Peter and Anna Colton of Winchester, MA; Robert and Karen Colton of Norwood, MA; Christine Colton Maloney of Brewster, MA; Douglas Colton of Braintree, MA, and eighteen nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 3 to 7 on Monday, August 22 at Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home at 326 Granite Ave, Milton, MA. A funeral mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23 at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 350 Reedsdale Road. Burial will immediately follow at Milton Cemetery. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Joyce Liu, M.D. and Ann Stewart, N.P. of Dana Farber for giving Jenny more time than was ever thought possible, and to the Norwell VNA & Hospice for their kind and compassionate care at the end of her life.
