Lucille F.J. (Brunette) Bernat, 83, of Dartmouth, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of Fryderyk Bernat, they were married for 62 years.
Mrs. Bernat was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Lucien and Jeanne (LaFleur) Brunette and had resided in Dartmouth since 1989. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she worked as an office administrator for A&A Realty. She was a recipient of the Marian Medal and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Westport where she was both a member of the choir and a volunteer in the office. She enjoyed music, square dancing, traveling and camping.
Survivors along with her husband include her 2 sons: Michael S. Bernat and his wife Mary of Palmer, MA and Marc S. Bernat and his wife Charlene of Acushnet; her 2 daughters: Suzanne M. Tompkins and her husband Scott of Westport and Jeanne L.B. Avila and her husband Michael of Dartmouth; her sister: Claire Girard of CA; 9 grandchildren: Matthew, Nicholas, Daniel, Lauren, David, Stephen, Daniel, Kelsey and Zachary; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Mathieu Bernat, grandmother of the late Anthony Brazil and sister of the late Lionel Dalbec.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
