Giovanni Lo Iacono, 78, of Malden, husband of Esterina Lo Iacono passed away on Friday August 19th, 2016 at North Shore Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Porticello Sicily, Italy, November 28, 1938. Son of the late Baldassarre and Guiseppa Lo Iacono .
After arriving from Italy in 1974, Giovanni worked as a plasterer all over New England until his retirement. In retirement, he enjoyed being a crossing guard for the Malden School District and he took great pride in his vegetable garden year after year. He was a devoted husband and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Esterina (Perrone) Lo Iacono of Malden and his two sons, Baldassarre of Italy and Marco of Malden and his grandchildren Giovanni and Dominic; his sister Ninfa Martinelli of Italy; and many nieces and nephews and extended family residing in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Sicily, Italy, Switzerland and Australia. He was predeceased by his sisters Grazia Storniolo, Gaetana Vella and brother Serafino Lo Iacono.
His Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Wednesday August 24th 2016 at 9:00a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:00a.m Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8p.m.
Entombment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden
