Obituary

DUDLEY – Bernadette M. “Bernie” Radzikowski, 56, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at UMass/Memorial University Campus, Worcester, with family at her side.

She leaves 6 siblings, John A. Radzikowski of Amherst, NY, Gary Radzikowski and his wife Carol of Brighton, Marcia F. Siar and her husband Richard of Waterford, PA, Paul E. Radzikowski of Lynn, Margaret M. Pfeiffer and her husband Richard of Medway, and Judy Butler and her husband Timothy of Orchard Park, NY; her companion, David A. J. Moninski, with whom she lived; 7 nieces, 6 nephews, 1 great-niece, 9 great-nephews and many loving friends.

She was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of John A. and Alice M. (Jelinski) Radzikowski. She lived in the Boston area for about 25 years, moving to Dudley in 2006. She graduated from Saint Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo, where she played as a guard on the varsity basketball team. She then earned an Associate Degree in Business from Newbury College in Holliston, and then a second Associate Degree in Social Work from Dean College in Franklin.
Bernie worked as a loan analyst for ADI Reporting Services in Framingham for several years.

She was a member of the Worcester Club for the Deaf for many years. She excelled at candlepin bowling. An avid sports fan, she especially rooted for the Buffalo Bills and the Boston Celtics. Her family, particularly her nieces and nephews, was the joy of her life. She was affectionately known as “Baby Face” by her companion David, whom she loved dearly.

Bernie treasured the close bonds she had with her sister Peg, her relentless health care advocate for many years and her best friend and niece, Ally, who were always there for her.

Bernie loved life despite overcoming medical challenges. She never complained and always remained positive with a smile on her face. She was known by all to be a “fighter” and will be missed by all.

The funeral will be held Saturday, September 3, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 11:30 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street, Dudley. A reception will follow in the church hall. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home prior to the Mass. Donations in her name may be made to the Central MA Deaf Senior Citizens Center, c/o St. Matthew’s Church, 695 Southbridge St., Worcester, MA 01610.
