Obituary



Mr. Alcide E. Valliere, 96, of 138 Green Street, Berlin, NH passed away on Tuesday July 26, 2005 at his home. He was born in Berlin, NH on October 6, 1908 the son of Ovila and Eva (Paquette) Valliere and was a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Brown Company as a time keeper, the City of Berlin Public Works Department and had his own business selling candy to stores in the area. He had been a member of St. Joseph Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish. Alcide received the William H. Halvorson Memorial Award, the Harrry Truman Award and the Vaughan Award for Coos County. He served for 12 years in the State Legislature. He was honored by the State of New Hampshire for having served 66 years as the longest serving supervisor of the checklist in the State and the City of Berlin. This recognition was entered into the State of New Hampshire Red Book and presented to him by then Governor Jeanne Shaheen. Alcide served as Director and Recording Secretary for the Golden Age Club. He was a member of the Board of Directors of M.E.S.H. and was a R.S.V.P. volunteer for many years. Alcide was also an avid hockey and baseball enthusiast.

Members of the family include a daughter Mrs. Norman (Lorraine) LaCroix of Berlin, NH; a niece Mrs. Helene Hawkins of Colorado Springs, CO. who was brought up by Alcide and Valeda; 2 granddaughters Mrs. Larry (Pamela) Lamson of Essex Jct., VT and Mrs. William (Suzanne) Evans of Satsuma, AL; 4 great grandchildren Kyle Lamson, Joshua Lamson, Jameson Boucher and Matthew Boucher; 6 great-great-grandchildren Nicholas Belanger, Aidan Boucher, Kaedynce Boucher, Shaleigh Valliere, Emily and Alisson Theriault; nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a special friend of many years Rudja Blanchette. He was predeceased by his wife Valeda (Leroux) Valliere and two brothers George and Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 30, 2005 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
