SPRINGFIELD – Mark A. Bleau, 62, of the Pine Point section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 18, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Palmer on August 12, 1954, a beloved son of Bernadette (Gay) Bleau of Thorndike and the late Armand E. Bleau. He was raised in Palmer and moved to Springfield around 1985. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Private First Class. He was employed as a truck driver for Associated Building Wreckers in Springfield. During his leisure time, Mark enjoyed woodworking, camping and motorcycling. Besides his loving mother, he leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Karen E. (Sharlow) Bleau; his three loving children, René M. Sharlow and her partner, Nick Bousquet, Nathan E. Bleau and his partner, Teresa McKinney, and Shawn M. Bleau and his partner, Andrea Lyon, all of Springfield; his four cherished grandchildren, Zoey Kusey, Zekayn Straight, Connor Bleau and Lillian Bleau; his two dear brothers, Bruce Bleau and his wife, Carolyn, of Elgin, SC and Neil Bleau and his wife, Katherine, of Palmer; and his many dear nephews, nieces, friends, “adopted children” and extended members of the Bleau and Sharlow families. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, August 25, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (the funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Prayer Service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. His Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Service at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
