Geraldine M. “Gerry” Smith (Magno), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, at her home in Medford. She was 68. The daughter of the late Joseph and the late Frances (Abbadessa) Magno, Geraldine was born and raised in Somerville. Geraldine was a kind and generous women, beginning her life long career with the US Air Force as an administrative assistant at the Pentagon and eventually retiring from many years of federal civil service at Hanscom Air Force Base. After meeting her husband, she settled in Medford to raise her family. Geraldine had a love of travelling in Europe, especially Italy and England. Geraldine was known as an avid, supporting member of her congregation at Grace Chapel and devoted much of her time with the Shine Program at the Medford Senior Center.
Geraldine was the beloved wife of Harold Smith. She was the devoted mother of Nicole Kallio and her husband James of Hudson and Shawn Smith of Worcester. Geraldine was the loving grandmother of Jacob, Rebecca and James. She was the dear sister of Laura Sullivan and her late husband Ed and Patricia Othmer and her husband Ed. Geraldine is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Monday, Aug. 22, 9-11 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a funeral service at Grace Chapel, 59 Worthen Rd, Lexington at 12 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
