Thomas E. Crowley, 88, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died August 16, 2016 surrounded by his family at Signature Healthcare in Brockton. He was the son of the late Richard and Marie (Corcoran) Crowley and husband of the late Rose F. (Connolly) Crowley. Thomas was a 1945 graduate of Brockton High School and had been Co-Chairman of the reunion committee since graduation, celebrating 70 years in 2015. Following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy proudly serving our country during WWII. Thomas went on to earn a Bachelor Degree in Business from Northeastern University while holding a full time job and starting his family. Tom worked at the Brockton Post Office for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1986 as the Chief Accountant. Tom was a member and former Treasurer for 40+ years of the Brockton Postal Employees Credit Union, the first postal credit union established in the country; his father before him being a charter member.
In his retirement he enjoyed many winters in his home in West Palm Beach, FL. He was an avid sports fan and followed all the Boston teams and UCONN basketball. He was also a former usher for Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton and will be remembered for his strong faith and commitment to his family.
Thomas is survived by his children, Kevin of CT, Rosemarie of NH, Julie and Tom Kennard of Brockton, Christine Glenn of South Hadley, and Joanne and Bob Preston of West Yarmouth; his dear friend Shirley Morrissey of Holbrook, daughter in law Darlene Crowley of FL, 16 grand and 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He was predeceased by his son Thomas Crowley, daughter Susan Crowley Malone and his brothers Richard and James Crowley.
Visitation will be at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), Brockton on Friday 4-7 pm. A procession will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9am for a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Easton. In memory of Tom donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
