Dudley – Alfred E. Weldon, 75 of Dudley, died on Friday, August 12th after an illness.
Mr. Weldon is survived by his wife, Gloria J. (Carruthers) Weldon; a son, Earl R. Weldon of Oxford; 4 daughters, Jean E. Plouffe of Dudley, Jill A. Sales of Worcester, Robin A. Weldon and Donna M. Weldon both of Mineral Springs, AR; a brother, Edward J. Weldon; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Alfred was the son of the late Edward J. and Irene G. (Duchesneau) Weldon and is also predeceased by 2 sisters, Alice Welch and Jeannette Chenevert and a brother, Paul Weldon. He was born and raised in Worcester, where he lived for 51 years before moving to Oxford where lived for 15 years and then spent the last 10 years of his life in Dudley.
Machinist worked as a machinist for 23 years at the Norton Company until his retirement. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he attained the status of a 4th Degree Knight with the John Cardinal Wright Assembly, and was a past Grand Knight of Council #4241 and a charter member of the Sutton Council #12710.
Mr. Weldon also served in the National Guard and was a Past Commander and Past State Department Commander of Admiral Ralph Earl Post #24.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Entombment will take place in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
