ABINGTON- Elizabeth J. "Betty" (Ward) Loomis, 91, passed away Monday, August 15. She was the beloved wife of the late Merton "Duke" Loomis.
Betty was born in Brockton and later moved to Abington and has remained a resident for many years. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruby (Tower) Ward and a graduate of Abington High School, Class of 1942.
She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary American Legion Post 112 of Abington. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Loomis and his wife Helen of Hingham, Geoffrey Loomis and his wife Donna of Marshfield, and Alan Loomis and his wife Susan of East Bridgewater; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Dorothy (Ward) Skillings, Barbara (Ward) Doonan, Robert Ward, and Carol (Ward) Skillings.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, August 20, at 10 am in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held Friday August 19 from 4-8 p.m.
