Obituary

Shirley I. Svedberg went to see the Lord on July 31, 2016. She was born May 15, 1935 in Southbridge, MA. She married her husband Lloyd Svedberg in 1956, was a resident of Auburn, MA for 35 years, and Port St. Lucie, FL for 12 years. Shirley graduated from Hahnemann Hospital Medical Terminology School in 1954. She worked at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester as a Medical Technologist for many years and also worked at Fallon Clinic for 10 years before she retired and moved to Florida in 2003.

During her years in MA, she belonged to the Auburn Emblem Club where she became president in 1975. She then went forward and became President of the Massachusetts State Association of Emblem clubs in 1996-1997. Shirley was still active in the Massachusetts State Association of Emblem Club and was an avid supporter of the association's major charity: The Kidney Dialysis Transplant Association. Shirley belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Auburn and also Holy Family Church in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

In 2013, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Svedberg. Survivors include four children: Gregory Svedberg of Mt. Airie, MD, Darryl and wife AnnMarie Dalbec Svedberg of Auburn, Cheryl Svedberg Macleod and husband David of Leicester, and Barry Svedberg and wife Jessica of Port St. Lucie, FL. She also leaves four grandchildren: Priscilla, Amy, Eric, and Jema Svedberg; and a great-grandson, Sebastian.

Services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester on Friday, August 26, 2016. A calling hour will be held at 12noon followed at 1pm by a Memorial Service. Burial of ashes will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts State Association of Emblem Club: "Kidney Dialysis Transplant Association."
