Doris W. Gramling
Augusta, GA – Surrounded by her loving family, Mrs. Doris Evans Gramling, 90, wife of the late Dr. Zack Gramling, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
Mrs. Gramling was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. She retired after 29 years as an executive secretary at the Medical College of Georgia. Doris worked/ modeled for Cullum’s Department Store as a young lady and started her family with Nick W. Evans, Sr. Mrs. Gramling was devoted to her family, First Baptist Church and her Sunday School Class. She was a true “Christian Southern Lady”.
Family members include daughters: Sally Evans Castengera (Philip), Laura Evans Moody and Carol Evans-Mitchell (Billy); son: Nick W. Evans, Jr. (Beth); 10 grandchildren:Joseph Martin Glisson, Jr. (Karen), Nicole Anderson (Mike), Niki Daniel (Rob), Robert Evan Moody, Riali Lyons (Blake), Barrett Blackstock (Jodie), Brett Blackstock, Kim Trotter (Jim), Kathi Trotter (Dennis), and Chad Evans (Amanda); 13 great-grandchildren. Extended family members are Wally Gramling (Lou) and Jeannie Gramling. She enjoyed her best friends Jean Hickey and Sunday School teacher, Sara Allen. She loved traveling the world and playing Bridge with her friends. The family appreciated the love and care she received from her very special caregivers.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 19, 2016, 11:00 A.M., at the Storey Chapel of First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Timothy Owings officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 18, 2016, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet and Son.
