Lawrence M. Cabral, 79, of Dartmouth passed away at Sacred Heart Home on Monday August 15, 2016, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel J. and Jennie R. (Riley) Cabral, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Cabral was formerly employed as a sales clerk at the Star Store for many years and later worked as a home health aide and hospice aide for eight years until his retirement.
He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, the O.L.O.A. Club, and the O.L.O.A. Senior Citizens. He had also been a member of the Association of the Sacred Hearts. In 1997 he was awarded the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for his dedicated service to his parish.
Survivors include his brother, Joseph Cabral of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was the brother of the late Andrew Riley, Manuel Cabral, Jr., Priscilla Cabral, Catherine Andrews, and Jennie Spinola.
His Funeral will be held on Friday August 19, 2016 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be on Thursday August 18, 2016 from 4-8 PM.
