Wilson, John Robert "J.R.", 72, of Simpsonville, passed away August 12, 2016.
He was born in Austin, Indiana, to the late John Wilson and Ila Mae (Smith) Cook. He was a former brake salesman for Eis, Standard, and finally Carquest. He was a member of Simpsonville Christian Church and formerly a member of Beargrass Christian Church. He was a Navy Veteran and had served on the USS Oriskany. He was a retired member of The Working 100 of the Jefferson County Sheriff Office.
Having been a Kosair Kid himself, J.R. was very active at the Kosair Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Kosair Greeters, Boat Club, Gun Glub and Sandbugs. He was Past Master of St. Matthews Masonic Lodge #906, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Louisville, and York Rite.
He was the beloved husband of Pamela Pope Wilson; beloved father of David Francis (Patty) and Susan Barker (John); grandfather to Lauren Francis, William Francis, Johnny and Alison Barker; great grandfather to Ethan and Wyatt Booher. Also surviving are many other family and friends.
Visitation will be 2-6pm Thursday at Owen Funeral Home - Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, with funeral service to follow at 6pm. Masonic service will be held following the funeral service.
