Obituary

Marilyn J. (Harrison) Smith, 87, of Anderson died on August 12, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield.

She was born on January 17, 1929 in Davenport, OK, to Roy Ferguson and Thelma Ann (DeBoard) Harrison.

She married Robert N. Smith in West Plains, MO, on August 18, 1951 by Rev. Raymond Miller.

She attended Anderson College from 1948-1950 and then one summer at Southwest Missouri College.

She taught grades 1-4 at Task Elementary, 1950-51. She worked for the Gospel Trumpet Company, was an excellent wife and mother, and most recent employment was as Assistant Director of the Park Place Children's Center for 19 years.

She served well on various boards, committees, and volunteering at Pearl Road Church of God in Cleveland, OH and Park Place Church of God in Anderson. She was an active participant in Marmee Club and Missions in Action. Member of Sanctuary Choir at Park Place Church of God. She was an active member of the Truthfinders Sunday School Class and with her husband helped coordinate The Singing Saints of Park Place.

She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Robert N. Smith of Anderson; 4 children, Timothy (wife, Linda) Smith of Columbus, OH; Roberta Ponce' of Fairborn, OH, Gregory (wife, Sherry) of Canton, OH, and Jennifer (husband, Stephen) Davis of New Haven, CT; 11 grandchildren, Timothy, Amy, Kristin, Nathan, Katharina, Lewis, Cameron, Isaac, Evanleigh, Harrison and Rowyn ;8 great-grandchildren, David, Nora, Lauren, Timmy, Claralyn, Austin, Marcus, and Eden; a brother-in-law, Doug (Bernadine) Smith of Miami, FL, a sister-in-law, Norma Smith of South Lake Wales, FL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Joe Rouintree, 2 step-brothers, Paul and Carl Rouintree, a brother-in-law, Tom Smith, and a grandson, Aaron Smith.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday at Park Place Church of God with Drs. David Markle and David Coolidge officiating. Burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and 1 hr. prior on Wednesday at the church.
