Obituary

Joseph Earl Carpenter, 71, of Anderson died August 10, 2016 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after an extended illness.

Joe was born December 24, 1944 in Jennings County, to Kenneth Earl and Dortha "Dott" (Jackson) Carpenter.

He was a tube mill operator at Delco Remy Division of General Motors before retiring in 1998 after 35 years of service.

He was very active at The Bridge Community Church and most recently attended The River in Lapel. He was a member of Middletown Legion and Alexandria Eagles Club.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, attending sporting events and activities of his grandchildren. He was a big Indiana University and Colts fan. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a Dale Earnhardt fan.

Joe is survived by his wife, Jeannie Carpenter of Anderson whom he married July 5, 1963; son, James (Tina) Carpenter; daughter, Jennifer (Jerry) Muterspaugh; siblings, Carl (Karen) Carpenter, Linda (Donnie) Manis and John Carpenter; sisters-in-law, Ellen and Jerry Spaulding, Norma (Joe) Bonisa; grandchildren, Kyle, DJ, Austin, Faith, Kayla, Jenny, Kerri, Kiely, Nate; great grandchildren, Jordon, Jerron, Kassidy and Jacob and several nieces, nephews and special friends.

Service 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Tyson Priest of The River officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 14 from 4 to 8 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Joyce Fosnot, nephews Carl E. Carpenter II, Ted B. Funk and Steve Johnson.
