Mr. Stephen Francis Doherty, of Taunton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 10 at his residence. He was born 65 years ago in Providence, R.I., the son of the late John F. “Jake” and Jane E. (Donelan) Doherty. He was educated in Taunton and had attended Assumption College in Worcester. Stephen had been a city resident for most of his life. He was employed as a driver for Mastria GMC in Raynham for several years, and was also a Licensed Caregiver for the Department of Public Health of Massachusetts. Stephen was formerly employed as a receiver for Trucchi’s Supermarket in Taunton, where he held various other positions over the years. He was a former member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks, and was a member of the Portuguese-American Civic Club’s Golf League. Stephen enjoyed all Boston sports teams, attending concerts, and playing golf. He was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
He leaves: 3 brothers: John T. Doherty and his wife, Lisa of Taunton, Paul E. Doherty and his wife, Dawn of Taunton, and William P. Doherty of Dighton; 5 sisters: Mary K. Odell and her husband, Timothy of Dover, N.H., Margaret L. Leal and her husband, Robert of Raynham, Susan J. Gabriel of W.Newbury, Ma., Sarah J. Doherty and her husband, Kerith Perreur-Lloyd of Robert’s Creek, British Columbia, and Elizabeth A. Peyton and her husband, Gary of Richmond, Va., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, August 19 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
